Water festival
The Water Festival lessons are specially designed as a first step towards swimming certificates. During these playful and safe lessons, your child is made water-confident. This means they become familiar with...
Survival swimming is a challenging and exciting form of swimming. At the Hoornse Vaart swimming pool, we offer various survival swimming certificates, namely survival certificates 1, 2, 3 and master. To be able to take part in the survival swimming lessons, you must already be in possession of your A and B swimming certificates.
During the survival swimming lessons, you learn how to swim in various situations that may occur in practice. For example, you learn what to do if you end up in a rip current or channel. A rip current is a strong current in the sea that can be dangerous for swimmers. You also learn how to orient yourself underwater, how to swim in a current, and how to perform a boat rescue.
Another important aspect of survival swimming is swimming with clothes on. You learn how to turn your clothing into a flotation device and how to swim while wearing clothes. This is of great importance if you end up in the water with clothes on, for example while boating or if you accidentally fall into the water.
Alongside these skills, you also learn how to swim under ice and how to swim blindfolded. Swimming under ice involves swimming through a gap in the ice while taking the freezing conditions into account. With blindfolded swimming, you swim without being able to see where you are going, forcing you to rely on your intuition and your other senses.
In short, survival swimming is a challenging and educational form of swimming that prepares you for various situations in the water. At the Hoornse Vaart swimming pool, we are happy to help you achieve the various survival swimming certificates.
