Welcome to the Hoornse Vaart swimming pool in Alkmaar! For a pleasant and safe swimming experience, we ask our visitors to respect the house rules of our facility. These rules are not only for the safety and hygiene of our visitors, but also to ensure that everyone can enjoy their swimming experience. In this article, we will discuss the most important house rules. We kindly ask you to read these house rules and to observe them during your visit to our pool. We wish you a pleasant and safe swimming experience!

Article 1: Admission ticket

1.1 Access to the swimming pool is granted upon purchase of a valid admission ticket. Persons under the age of 18 who cannot swim are very welcome on condition that they are supervised by someone aged 18 or older. Admission is valid for a single entry during the set opening hours on the day the admission ticket is purchased. The swimming pool cash desk closes half an hour before the swimming pool closes.

Article 2: Hygiene

Before swimming, it is compulsory to shower.
Wearing footwear in the wet sanitary areas and on the pool decks is not permitted.
2.3 People who are carriers of a contagious disease and thereby endanger the health of other visitors are not permitted to use the swimming facilities.

Article 3: Responsibility

Visitors enter the swimming pool at their own risk.

Article 4: Liability

4.1 The municipality and the swimming facility staff shall not be held liable for the loss of or damage to property, personal injury inflicted by third parties, or the theft of personal belongings.
4.2 The visitor is liable for damage caused by their fault to
pool employees, goods, buildings or to others
visitors has been inflicted.
4.3 All instructions given by the swimming pool staff must be followed by the visitor. Refusal to comply may result in removal from the sports complex without the visitor being entitled to a refund of the admission fee.

Article 5: Theft

We always report theft and other offences to the police.

Article 6: Nuisance behaviour

6.1 Nuisance behaviour towards other visitors must be avoided.
6.2 Repeatedly nuisance-causing, offensive or otherwise unwanted behaviour leads to measures in accordance with the arrangements in the ’vrolijk en veilig’ (cheerful and safe) covenant (denial of entry, reporting and/or filing a complaint with the police).

Article 7: Swimwear

7.1 Users of the swimming pools must be dressed in appropriate swimwear. The pool staff are authorised to assess whether the swimwear meets the standards of decency. If, in the opinion of the staff member, the swimwear does not meet the standards of decency, access to the pool will be denied immediately. If other visitors take offence to your swimwear, in accordance with the “Cheerful and Safe” protocol, immediate denial of access to the Alkmaar Swimming Facilities will follow and a report will always be made to the police.

Article 8: Danger

Jumping or diving off the diving board must be done in line with the board.
8.2 Running in the swimming facilities is not permitted.
8.3 Throwing hard objects is not permitted in the swimming pool.
8.4 Visitors who do not hold a swimming certificate or who, in the opinion of the swimming pool staff, are not sufficiently proficient in swimming, are only permitted to use the wave pool, the water play area, the instruction pool and the outdoor pool.
8.5 For the safety of all visitors, fixed rules apply to the use of flotation devices. During recreational swimming, it is compulsory for children without a swimming certificate to wear armbands. Life jackets are not permitted. Armbands are available from reception or to borrow from the lifeguard station.
8.6 Bringing fragile objects is not permitted.
8.7 Accessing the stand at the 50-metre pool is not permitted.

Article 9: Slide

9.1 Use of the slide is permitted in the manner indicated on the signs with the pictograms.
9.2 Children without a swimming certificate are allowed to use the slide if they wear armbands.

Article 10: Diving

Diving is permitted at a water depth of 2.00 metres or more. We indicate where diving is not allowed by means of signs and/or pictograms.

Article 11: Alcohol and Tobacco Act

Alcoholic drinks may be consumed to a limited extent by persons aged 18 and over in the sports bar. The consumption of alcoholic drinks is not permitted in the rest of the complex.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the sports complex.

Article 12: Pets

Pets are not allowed in the sports facility with the exception of assistance dogs.

Article 13: Food

Consuming food is exclusively permitted in the designated areas (indicated by signs and/or pictograms).

Article 14: Lost property

Lost property can be handed in at the till.
