Achieving a swimming certificate is not only important for a child's safety in and around the water, but also for their self-confidence and enjoyment of swimming. At the Hoornse Vaart swimming pool in Alkmaar, we therefore offer Waterfestijn swimming lessons for children aged 4.5 and over, and ABC swimming lessons for children aged 5 and over.
Swimming lessons registration
Enrolling for swimming lessons can be done easily online via the online environment of Alkmaar Sport. You only need to fill in the desired lesson, your child's details and the preferred swimming lesson day. We strive to offer all children a place in our swimming lessons within a reasonable timeframe. If the desired swimming lesson is full, your child will automatically be placed on the waiting list. The waiting time for swimming lessons is currently six months. As soon as a place becomes available, we will contact you.
When enrolling your child for swimming lessons, you have the choice between the Water Festival swimming lesson and the ABC swimming lesson. The Water Festival swimming lesson is intended to familiarise children with the water in a playful way and to teach them the basic techniques of swimming. The ABC swimming lesson is intended for children who are already familiar with the water and want to develop their swimming further.
Please note: If you have previously had a child in swimming lessons, you will probably have already created an account. For your second child, however, you need to create a new account; you cannot use the same account as for your first child.

Is your child already having swimming lessons? Swimming is not only fun, but also of vital importance in a country full of water. Would you like your son or daughter to have swimming lessons, but is there no money to pay for the lessons? Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur can help in some municipalities! They pay for children's swimming lesson fees if there is not enough money at home. Check the terms and conditions on the Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur website.
