Are you looking for a fun and effective way to work on your fitness? Then aquajogging at the Hoornse Vaart swimming pool in Alkmaar is definitely for you! This sport is suitable for young and old, regardless of your level or experience.
Aquajogging is an excellent sport to strengthen your muscles, improve your stamina and tone your figure. Moreover, it reduces stress on the joints and prevents injuries. You can view this class as a combination of running, swimming and fitness, where you stand in the water with a wet belt around your waist. The wet belt ensures that you stay afloat and maintain your balance while you run.
The water provides resistance, which means you have to work harder. So you’re not just training your legs, but also your abdominal, back and arm muscles. You determine the intensity of the workout yourself, because the faster you move, the greater the resistance from the water. What’s more, aqua jogging burns a high number of calories – up to 40% more than running on dry land. Half an hour of aqua jogging is equivalent to an hour and a half of running!
Our professional instructors ensure that the lessons are suitable for both beginners and advanced students. We offer various lesson times, so there is always a time that suits you.
This activity takes place on the days and times below. During school holidays we operate an amended schedule for the aquafitness classes. For more information you can visit our page during school holidays with opening hours.

New scheme for participation in aquafitness classes
We have noticed that there are sometimes participants who join the aquafitness classes without proper payment (for example with the Sports Benefit SubscriptionTo prevent this in the future, we will be using special wristbands for these classes from 1 June.
Do you have a single-session ticket, an unlimited aqua sports membership or an 8-session pass? If so, please check in at reception first. There, your QR code will be scanned using a handheld scanner and you’ll be given a wristband. You should then hand this wristband in to the instructor for the relevant class. This is how we ensure that everyone with a valid ticket can enjoy the classes. Thank you for your understanding!
