Aquarobics is an ideal workout for people looking for an active and energetic training session in the water. With various music styles, interval training and choreographies, this class is a fun and challenging way to work towards your fitness goals.
A major advantage of Aquarobics is that the upward pressure of the water makes jumping and running exercises less stressful on knees and ankles. As a result, this class is also extremely suitable for people with injuries or back problems. Another advantage of Aquarobics is that the resistance in water is twelve times greater than that of air. This means you use more energy during the workout and therefore burn more calories. During the classes, resistance equipment such as plastic weights and dumbbells is frequently used to make the workout even more intensive.
Each lesson begins with a warm-up and ends with a cool-down. This allows you to prepare your body for the intensive training in a responsible manner and prevents injuries. Furthermore, the cool-down ensures that the body can gradually cool down and recover after the training.
Aquarobics is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Our professional instructors will guide and motivate you during the class. Come along to the Hoornse Vaart swimming pool in Alkmaar and experience the benefits!
This activity takes place on the days and times below. During school holidays we operate an amended schedule for the aquafitness classes. For more information you can visit our page during school holidays with opening hours.

New scheme for participation in aquafitness classes
We have noticed that there are sometimes participants who join the aquafitness classes without proper payment (for example with the Sports Benefit SubscriptionTo prevent this in the future, we will be using special wristbands for these classes from 1 June.
Do you have a single-session ticket, an unlimited aqua sports membership or an 8-session pass? If so, please check in at reception first. There, your QR code will be scanned using a handheld scanner and you’ll be given a wristband. You should then hand this wristband in to the instructor for the relevant class. This is how we ensure that everyone with a valid ticket can enjoy the classes. Thank you for your understanding!
