Swimming hard for the fastest time, working together to get the ball in the goal, or moving to music in the water. Aquatic sports are much more versatile than you might think.
During Dive into swimming sports, pupils from years 5, 6, 7 and 8 (grades 4, 5, 6 and 7) get acquainted with various swimming disciplines. They try out techniques themselves, take on the challenge with classmates and discover which sport suits them best. Perhaps there is a future water polo player, competitive swimmer or synchronised swimmer in the class without them even knowing it yet. During 'Dive into swimming', pupils get the chance to experience various disciplines for themselves. Not watching from the side, but getting into the water and trying it out! They discover how technique, speed, teamwork and agility return in a different way in every swimming sport.

The activity is concluded with a playful competition or joint challenge, so that pupils can immediately use what they have learnt.
The lessons are provided by experienced coaches from DAW swimming club. As a result, pupils are not only introduced to various swimming sports, but also to the way in which these sports are truly practised. Who knows, a pupil might just discover a new sport during this activity that suits them down to the ground.

Alkmaar Sport offers a total of three different exercise programmes for primary schools. Besides Swimming is cool at swimming pool Hoornse Vaart, schools can also take part in the ICE Games at ice rink De Meent and FietsFratsen at Sportpaleis Alkmaar. This allows pupils to be introduced to swimming, ice skating and cycling in various ways.
