Recreational swimming+

Recreational swimming+ is one of the five activities within the programme Swimming is cool from Alkmaar Sport. With Swim is cool, pupils discover how versatile and fun moving in the water can be. Each activity has its own goal and approach, but together they form one complete and playful physical activity programme for schools.

Playfully working on water confidence

A child who has achieved the National Swimming Certificate C has a solid foundation for a lifetime of swimming and water enjoyment. This certificate is regarded as the Dutch Swimming Safety Standard, but it is important that children continue to practise even after obtaining their Swimming ABC. Anyone who does not swim for a long time can imperceptibly lose skills and feel less confident in the water.

Keep moving for swimming safety

During Recreational Swimming+, children keep moving continuously and practise their skills in a natural way. They swim around freely, try out new things and play in the water without it feeling like a lesson. Through games and short moments of animation from a staff member, a relaxed atmosphere is created in which children have fun and keep up their swimming fitness.

That is how Recreational Swimming+ provides a combination of fun, self-confidence and the retention of important skills. All in a playful way that suits children.

• Terms and conditionsall children must hold at least a basic swimming certificate (A-diploma). An exception is made for the theme ‘recreational swimming’, but only under the supervision of someone aged 18+.

Special offer for primary schools

Alkmaar Sport offers a total of three different schools programmes to primary schools. In addition to Swimming is cool do we also offer the ICE Games at ice rink De Meent and FietsFratsen at Sportpaleis Alkmaar.
